Most of heavy civil construction projects contain different work item features, such as several identical or similar units and large portion of linear work items. The Critical Path Method (CPM), probably the most popular planning and scheduling method, does not suit the needs of such heavy civil construction projects. It does not facilitate handling large numbers of repetitive activities, linear activities and modeling continuity constraints.
